Healthy Carolinians of the Albemarle

Healthy Carolinians of the Albemarle (HCOTA) is a community-based network of agencies and citizens dedicated to improving the quality of life through health and wellness, where its main focus is to eliminate health disparities across the four counties of Camden, Currituck, Pasquotank, and Perquimans, by addressing emerging health trends HCOTA is comprised of community members and leaders, representatives of public health, hospitals, human services organizations, churches, schools and businesses who come together to organize and mobilize resources through collaboration.

Mission

To be a community-based network of agencies and citizens dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles, improve health status and increase the years of quality living for all residents Camden, Currituck, Pasquotank, and Perquimans counties.

 

What We Do

  • Guide local planning efforts to improve health
  • Support innovative health programs
  • Advocate for health-promoting policies

  • Chronic Disease
  • Obesity/Physical Activity and Nutrition
  • Access to Health Education and Community Resources directed at health and wellness
  • Advocating for Personal Health

Community Health Assessments

During the three interim years between Community Health Assessments, the local health departments are required to do a State-of-the-County's Health (SOTCH) Report that will:

  • Track priority issues identified in the Community Health Assessment
  • Identify emerging issues
  • Highlight new initiatives
