Activities & Announcements Diabetes Day will be 2/18 at the Cashie Convention Center in Windsor. Registration is at 8:30am. The speakers and program will begin at 9am until noontime. The Bertie Farm Bureau Healthy Living for a Lifetime event will be held 3/3 in Windsor at Vidant Bertie Hospital from 9-5 and 3/17 in Edenton at the Kathy's Steakhouse parking lot, also 9-5. Screenings will include total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides; blood glucose, blood pressure, BMI, bone density. Special screening: vascular ultrasound. The Maternal and Child Health Subcommittee began implementing the Healthy Mom Project at Bertie and Chowan Health Department at the beginning of the year. New pregnant moms and moms that are less than 20 weeks pregnant can be enrolled in the program. Moms will receive education and guidance to help them have a healthy pregnancy that can reduce their baby's chances of having a birth defect.
